Formed in 2021 at the Faculty of Education at Western University by Dr. Colin King, we are a graduate research group dedicated to supporting research in school and applied/clinical psychology for children and youth.
With a desire to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practices in school psychology, we are dedicated to collaborative research that is based in authentic problems of practice. Our graduate students are completing professional graduate programs in School and Applied Child Psychology and Counselling Psychology at the Faculty of Education.
Vision – To promote positive mental health and effective learning for all children and youth through evidence-based approaches in our homes, schools, and communities.
Mission – To mobilize knowledge and a shared understanding of effective approaches and strategies through collaborative research partnerships with families, educators and schools, and professionals.
Values - We believe in research and working methods that are collaborative and co-created, transparent, strength-based and anti-racist, strategic with a high degree of practical application, and informed by different forms and levels of evidence.
School Psychology is the application of knowledge about human behaviour, mental health, and development to the understanding of the social, emotional and learning needs of children, adolescents and adults, and to the creation of learning environments that facilitate learning, mental health and well-being (CPO, 2022).
